who we are

The Bridgeway youth community is a group of young people who long to look and act more like Jesus. We are an army who don’t have it all figured out but we know that Jesus is everything the Bible declares Him to be. He is worth our entire lives. There is a spiritual war that wages for the hearts and lives of young people all across this vast globe. We believe that we, His disciples, are the Church and that God has given us the keys to His Kingdom through His son Jesus and we are to spread that Kingdom throughout our families, our cities, and to the ends of the earth. We are committed to discipleship, which means together we want to look and act more like Jesus each day. We long to walk in close relationship with Him, inviting Him into every facet of our lives: school, home, work, sports, friends, etc… and we know that this dying world needs Him because He is the source of true and everlasting life.

So, how do we practically walk these values out? Just like the rest of the Bridgeway Church body we believe that house church is the greatest expression of church for our people. And so parents, we invite you to take your youth to any and every house church function you yourself attend. There truly is no better place to disciple than in your own home or in the homes of the house church community you are committed too. However, we also provide a space for youth to be with just youth! That place is in our guys and girls D-Groups (check out celebration, house church, d-group for clarification and purpose of D-Groups). For the youth we keep the D-Groups as guys groups and girls groups (grade appropriate). The place, date, and time of those D-Groups is up to the D-Group leader. Each September we reconfigure our groups and continue to adjust them as needed throughout the year. Becoming more like Jesus is our pursuit, and we genuinely believe that through closing the gap between teacher and student, our young people will have a place to be truly discipled.

While D-Groups meet most weeks throughout the school year, the last week of every month we all join together as one large unit in celebration of what God is doing in our community. That celebration is in the Backroom at Bridgeway Church starting at 6:30pm. Together we worship and seek the face of God, we share stories of what He is doing in our lives and in our communities, and we turn our ears to the Bible and seek to live out the values that He calls us to through it.

In essence, becoming like Jesus and connecting others to him is what we’re about. Come and follow Him with Us!
