children’s training center (ctc)
What You Can Expect
THE BASICS
Children are an important part of the kingdom of God and we recognize their function in
the body. They are gifts from God and deserve a safe, positive and nurturing environment that is free of fear and prejudice. This is the type of environment in which they can grow spiritually.
While the church is a resource to support and encourage, parents are given the primary responsibility to disciple their children.
THE VISION
Our children’s training center is a place to train, equip, and release children to be disciples of Jesus. We want this generation of children to grow up with a foundation for being worshippers of God for a lifetime. As lovers of God, they can be ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ (through prayer to God, praying for people, ministering to the hurting, giving encouraging words, preaching, etc.).
We live out this vision through commitment to FOUR CORE VALUES: Intimacy with God; Character of Jesus; Community with one another; Mission to those who need hope.
These are the values of our King, Jesus and His Kingdom. We want to see these values reproduced in these children and throughout the earth. These core values are simply our understanding of how God wants us to express our love for Him and others (Matt. 22:37-39). These values shape our lifestyle and unite us at heart. While our methods will change with time and circumstances, our commitment to become people shaped and known for these values is unwavering.
Our GOAL is that Jesus would be the center of everything we do – not a specific curriculum or model. We want the children to experience and respond to the overwhelming beauty and love of Jesus. We trust the Holy Spirit to guide us each semester in giving the children what’s on His heart.
Our METHOD is more interactive and hands-on than a traditional teacher/student model. We want children to be involved in the learning process through questions, discovering, evaluating, and applying. Children will be shown the richness of our loving God through a variety of ways: music, art, story, discussion, drama, prayer, missions, and video.
We ENCOURAGE the children to practice connecting with God through prayer and worship and the creative arts. John 10 says that His sheep hear His voice and we want the children to know that they can have a direct communion with God.
Our STRUCTURE is set up so that the team members rotate through one class once or twice a month. There is a cluster leader over each area: Birth – 2, Pre-K, K-3rd and 4th-5th grade.
Each area has TEAM MEMBERS who are committed to the spiritual development of your child. These screened men and women are given materials and resources to help offer your child an experience that is safe and meaningful.
