res-pite [res-pit]
-noun. a delay or cessation, for a time, esp. of anything distressing or trying; an interval of relief.
-verb (used with object). to relieve temporarily, esp. from anything distressing or trying; give an interval of relief from.

Mission: We bless and are blessed by those with Special Needs and their Families and care providers. You’ll find us serving at the OU Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Center, or a hospice . . . among other places.

When we meet:
Second Sunday of each month 4PM to 6PM in the backroom (of Bridgeway)Childcare will be provided

Mission Aim
(UP) Commit to pray and intercede for a specific family of a special need child.
(IN) Restructure the culture and climate of our community to welcome the individuals with disorders and provide a place of rest for the care givers and families.
(OUT) Go to the places where those with special needs are and impact their daily lives.

What this looks like:
1. Pray for a specific family once a month. Each month we’ll identify a new family and lift them up on a daily basis.
2. Provide the necessary childcare at our monthly house church gatherings to insure that those with special needs receive adequate care. This demonstrates our love for the sick but also our love for the family so they can engage with the community and, for at least a few hours a month, be an individual and not a care giver.
3. At least once every three months we will visit a facility and minister there. This includes, but is not limited to, prayer, service, meals, snacks, conversations, and support.
4. Long-term - develop a Sunday morning framework for which those families can attend a Sunday celebration and have their child watched in a loving and professional environment that allows the parents to participate in the celebration and not provide the care for the child/individual with special needs.

It’s February!

Hey, everyone!  Can you believe it is already Feburuary?  Ahhh . . . the month of love:).

Remember, we meet the second Sunday of every month as a HC.  That means this upcoming Sunday!  Meet in the Backroom of Bway at 4pm.  Childcare will be provided.  Feel free to bring your own snacks, drinks, whatever.  It will be a casual time of getting to know each other and getting into the word.

D-groups (Discipleship groups) will be forming soon.  We are praying that God will bring in the right new people and raise up the right new leaders for these positions.  Mike and I are excited to see them get going and to see what God will do!

Recently, Bway held it’s first ever Impact Sunday.  This event gave the entire church body a chance to see what every housechurch is about - what their mission is, who their leaders are, etc.  We had several people stop by our table, and if you did stop by that day, remember that we would love to have you visit HC!  If you know of anyone who might have a hear for our group, feel free to invite them. To learn more about our mission, just check out Bway’s website (undoubtedly you did that already to get to this page!).

We love you all and will see you THIS SUNDAY!!

Christ-giving Dinner and Person of Peace!

POP: t is December and time for our new Person of Peace! Each month we will have a Person of Peace, which we will pray for as a HC. Please pray for these individuals and families throughout the week as well.

This month’s POP is Lilly Haas. You may remember praying for Lilly at our last HC meeting. Lilly’s family lives in Edmond, but is from Texas. They don’t have any family here in Oklahoma City, that I am aware of. Little Lilly is younger than Ellie Kate, and has a rare genetic disease as well. Her disease is extremely progressive, meaning that it will cause her body to detierirate until she passes away. Lilly too suffers from seizures and breathing problems, although hers are much more severe than Ellie Kate’s. She cannot eat by mouth at this time and is very behind developmentally as well. Lilly’s parents, Amy and Scott, are precious Believers. They took Revelation here at Bway this fall. They also have another daughter, Liberty, who I believe is three years old.

The family is asking prayer for healing. Lilly recently had a stomach surgery in Texas, and she is having a hard time getting back to her old self. She is having trouble with breathing and with seizures because of the surgery. Please pray that she will become more and more aware of her surroundings. You can also log on to Lilly’s carepage (just like Ellie Kates!). Just go to www.carepages.com and type in “Lilly Haas”.

HC name: We are now officially the Respite HC! Respite is defined as an interval of rest or relief (Mirriam Webster). This is exactly what we want to be to those in our community dealing with ill loved ones!

Christ-giving Dinner: THIS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9th in the Backroom! Come and enjoy a pot-luck dinner as we celebrate both Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you would like to bring something, please email Ryan at tullyryan@hotmail.com. There will not be childcare this Sunday due to the nature of the dinner - it’s for all of us!

Be watching for more information to come. And, for questions or concerns, please contact Ryan or Mike at 286-1707.
