bridge to the nations

Bridge to the Nations is the realization of a vision from the group of people who formed Bridgeway in the early 1990’s. They determined to seek God intimately and to do church in a manner that both equipped the generations to follow and was transferable to other nations and cultures. The vision was to develop a training method that would relationally expedite the process of House Church planting to the nations as well as other segments of cultures in this nation.

The story of Bridge to the Nations (BTTN) is being lived and written as we go. Our ultimate desire is to give it all away. God has led us to equip students to “Glorify God, House to House, Life on Life, in the power of the Holy Spirit to the world” through mentoring, community, teaching and experiencing.

BTTN takes applications throughout the year. Typically, students are already leading House Churches or D-groups. Each Fall a new “class” begins a two-year journey together. The goal is that during training God will unite teams with a missional vision and at the end of the training they reproduce church life in other places.

MENTORING From its inception, Bridgeway has been committed to raising up the next generation. BTTN is committed to teaching men and women what ministry is and giving opportunities to do what one is being taught. Our mentors are committed to walk with students doing ministry in community.

COMMUNITY We are committed to learning together and to “hands-on” interaction in community. We see Jesus teaching the disciples this way, and the house church model allows students to explore how community ministry can be developed in the nations.

TEACHING One evening a week for approximately 4 hours, BTTN students gather to learn from 12 curriculum areas:

Mission & Ministry

  • Holy Spirit (Outer workings)
  • Vocation as Ministry
  • Holy Spirit (Inner workings)
  • God’s Story (Theology)
  • Precepts (Biblical Studies)
  • Perspectives (Mission)
  • Servant Leadership
  • Discipleship
  • House Church Planting
  • Living a Life of Character
  • Worship & Arts

EXPERIENCING We are committed to teaching experience. We want theology to be lived out. Jesus constantly provided opportunities for the disciples to do what He taught. At BTTN we do this on three different levels:

Weekly: Each student is involved in a weekly D-group. They are taught and mentored through the process of receiving, ministering, apprenticing, leading, and reproducing a house church. This gives in-depth practical experience.

Monthly: During each course the mentors and students will participate in an in-depth encounter that lets them trust God as they walk in what they are being taught.p1010007_2.JPG

Annually: Either during the Winter break (Dec - Jan) or Summer (May - Aug) each student and their mentor will design a 2-week to 3-month project that will explore and integrate what the student believes God is calling them to do regarding a particular type or location of ministry.
